MCP for AI-assisted financial reporting
Coming soonOrsta is preparing a Model Context Protocol, or MCP, connection so compatible AI assistants can work with selected Orsta reporting actions. The connection is not available yet.
What an Orsta MCP workflow could do
- Check for unmapped accounts before a report is prepared.
- Prepare June management accounts using the saved reporting template.
- Carry forward May's commentary and show what needs review.
- Show June KPIs and tables before the final report is created.
- Add approved commentary and create a new report version.
- Export the report to PDF or its tables to Excel.
How imported data could support it
The first ChatGPT plugin submission will use Excel and CSV trial balance uploads. It will support saved mappings, report and component edits, and review, export and publication in Orsta. Direct Xero and QuickBooks connections are planned separately.
The assistant will return an Orsta builder link. You can review and edit the report, then export or publish it in Orsta.
Built on Orsta's reporting workflow
Orsta's API already supports account mappings, structured report templates, calculations, saved reports and exports. These give AI workflows clear structures to work with instead of relying on an unstructured reporting process.
Designed around approval
New account assignments and draft edits can be saved directly. Import warnings and protected mapping changes require review. You publish the final report in Orsta.
